One of the advantages of utilizing ADOS as a colocation provider is the bandwidth-rich environment found in our data center. Unlike other carrier neutral colocation providers, who simply sell you a shelf or rack in a data room and leave it to you to procure connectivity, all ADOS colocation solutions include rack space, power, network monitoring, and bandwidth.
Our bandwidth is priced on a metered schedule, just like you buy water or electricity from a utility company. We evaluate the total amount of data transfer at the ingress and egress to your equipment over a five minute period. We record those figures and generate a historical graph (see report at right) of your actual inbound and outbound bandwidth utilization. Your bill is based on the average monthly value of the accumulated 5-minute inbound and outbound data transfer samples. |

Bandwidth Increments
Bandwidth is purchased in average monthly bandwidth utilization increments. The smallest increment available is 64kb/s. This is the equivalent of 20Gb of data transfer, which is generally enough for most dot-coms. When your base bandwidth utilization increment is exceed (e.g. 64kb/s), you purchase a second bandwidth increment (64kb/s). Larger base increments are available and offer you more competitive bandwidth rates.
Fully Burstable Connections
The affordability of metered bandwidth is not the only reason to choose ADOS. Our customers also enjoy the liberty of fully burstable Internet connectivity. We give each customer a fully burstable 10Mb/s Ethernet connection to our switch (100Mb/s ports are available). There are no caps or limits on how much bandwidth you can use, and redundant connectivity ensures there is plenty of bandwidth available at all times. If we ever see sustained traffic exceeding 30% or ever have a spike that reaches 90% of our total bandwidth, we will add additional connectivity.
A Winning Combination: Performance & Affordability
The advantages of a fully burstable connection in combination with a metered bandwidth pricing schedule are apparent. You have the luxury of an extremely large Internet connection without the costs. Because large spikes are averaged out over the course of a month, the spikes generally do not cause the average bandwidth utilization to exceed the allotted amount keeping your expenses low and predictable.
